“Damn… My arm hurts. Coach Carlson was a total hardass today. Can you imagine how he’s gonna be closer to season-opening?” Joe York said as he opened his locker and threw his glove inside. “If I would have had to throw to first again, I swear I was gonna punch him in the fucking face.”

“My knee is killing me,” I moaned. “Shouldn’t have crouched the whole time.”

“If this is how we feel when we’re young as shit, imagine how we’re gonna feel when we’re forty.” Birdsong collapsed onto the bench in front of our lockers and groaned as he rotated his shoulder. “Coach made me keep throwing fastballs today. My arm is fucking dislocated. My night is gonna be spent with an ice pack.”

“You’re all a bunch of pussys.” Bobby, our new outfielder, laughed. “Maybe you old guys are just more out of shape than me an ole’ Ramirez, here. Ain’t that right, buddy?”

“You speak for yourself, Bobby. My feet hurt.” Ramirez slapped him on the shoulder.

“Yeah, you two asses come play infield during practice and then tell me how in shape you are,” Joe scoffed. “Fuck anyone can stand in the outfield and kick clover. My grandma could play your position, freshman.”

“Your grandma might get my dick in her ass,” Bobby teased, grabbing his junk and humping the air in his very own fuck dance.

“MY grandma, don’t fuck virgins. Ain’t worth her time,” Joe took off his socks and balled them up, tossing them at Bobby’s face. He knocked them out of the air and back towards Joe, who picked them up.

“I’m no virgin,” Bobby said seriously. “I’ve banged a ton of pie in my time.”

“Yeah, okay, there stud. I’m sure you’re a real player,” Birdsong laughed as he pulled off his cleats and threw them in his locker. “Damn… that hurt.”

“I think I’m gonna go sit in my room and stay in bed until tomorrow,” I said, balling my batting gloves up into a ball and tossing them into my locker. “Maybe I’ll order a pizza.”

“That’s healthy,” Joe laughed as he slid over and sat beside Birdsong. “You should come out with Birdsong and me. We’re gonna go grab a few beers and then catch the soccer team play their first game.”

“Shit… I forgot about that.” Birdsong moaned and rotated his arm again. “I guess the ice will have to wait.”

“I got Biofreeze if you want some, Birdy,” I offered, and he grinned. I pulled it out of my locker and tossed it over to him.

“Yeah… that’ll help, and three or four icy beers will make the pain go right away.” Joe patted Birdsong on the back. “You wanna come, Rus?” Joe glanced over at me.

“Nah… I got some things to do tonight,” I grinned back. The grin was honest. I was gonna spend time with Matt. He didn’t get home until late last night, and he was in a mood. I barely got a goodnight kiss.

“Did you hear that the goalie and a forward came out on the soccer team?” Ramirez piped up, pulling his shirt off and sniffing his underarms.
